Longtime Tennessee mayor wants another shot at the office

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — A Tennessee city's first black mayor has announced he wants to "do it again." The Commercial Appeal reports 77-year-old Willie Herenton launched his campaign for Memphis mayor Thursday, ostensibly challenging incumbent Mayor Jim Strickland in 2019. Strickland has yet to formally announce another run.
