KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Two Knoxville police officers have been injured in a crash while responding to a shooting.

Knoxville police said in a statement that emergency crews were responding to a gunshot victim at an apartment complex late Monday night.

Police say while officers were directing first responders and fire crews to the scene, more gunshots were fired from a nearby building.

Authorities called for additional backup, and Officers Jordan Henderson and Zach Wilson crashed their patrols cars into each other while responding to that call.

Both officers were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the unidentified shooting victim also was taken the hospital for treatment of a potentially life-threatening injury.

Police said the man was shot by an acquaintance during an ongoing dispute. No arrests had been made as of early Tuesday morning.
