Horses seized from a ranch operated by local businessman Sid Stanton have been forfeited amid allegations the animals were being neglected.Stanton is set for hearing before General Sessions Judge Larry Ross on Aug. 16 on seven counts of cruelty to animals. Stanton remains free on bond on both that case and a similar case for which he still faces charges two years ago.Lawmen and animal rights groups seized 21 horses, mules and donkeys from the Stanton ranch located on Sparta Highway earlier this month after allegations the animals were not receiving proper care. The raid came two years after another Stanton farm, located on Bluff Springs Road, was raided and 23 horses were seized.
