Nearly every county office will be on the ballot when early voting begins this Wednesday.
To help local residents make an informed decision, the Southern Standard and WCPI are once again sponsoring a political forum to be held next Tuesday, April 22, at Warren County Administrative Offices. The start time is 6:30 p.m.
Candidates for county executive, sheriff, and public defender are invited to attend.
Each candidate will be given the chance to make a two-minute introductory speech. The Standard will then ask general questions pertaining to county government or legal issues, depending on the candidate.
“We wish we could have every candidate up for election this year at the forum,” said Standard publisher Patricia Zechman. “But with the number of candidates running, that is simply not possible. We would have to schedule two nights just for all the candidates running for seats on the Warren County Commission.”
The Standard hopes all candidates running for sheriff, county executive and public defender will attend. They are:
• Sheriff – Jackie Matheny, Bobby Edwards, Danice Taylor, and Doc Smith
• County executive – David Hill, Hacket Lance, Kenneth Rogers, Bob Warren, Herschel Wells, John Shields, Jeff Bottoms, Johnathan Ferrell, Billy Daniel Orr, and Blaine Wilcher.
• Public defender – Dan Bryant and John Partin
