Independent challenger Tim Pirtle has come up strong in campaign spending as he looks to unseat incumbent District Attorney Lisa Zavogiannis, outspending her down the home stretch leading to Election Day this Thursday, Aug. 7.According to second-quarter campaign finance reports, Pirtle spent $19,250 in the second quarter which ended last week. Zavogiannis reported spending $12,960 during the second quarter, however she still is ahead in overall spending.Taking the total amount from all reports, Zavogiannis enjoys a lead of $30,037 to Pirtle’s $19,250 as they head toward Thursday’s showdown at the polls.That campaign spending can be seen as a worthwhile investment to the person who wins the race. With an annual salary of $144,180, the winner will earn $1.15 million over his or her eight-year term.As for Pirtle’s second-quarter spending, his biggest single expenditure was just over $5,800 to Logo Works for signs and balloons.
