A man who allegedly beat his girlfriend was tased by police after he refused to go quietly when officers came to arrest him on assault and drug charges.The suspect, Nicolas Allan Smartt, 36, is charged with aggravated assault, sale or delivery of a controlled substance, and resisting arrest. He will face hearing before General Sessions Judge Bill Locke this Tuesday.He was arrested for assaulting his girlfriend at Vinewood Apartments.“She said she and Nicolas Smartt were in an argument and he had hit her in the head,” McMinnville Police Lt. Bo Hutchins recalled. “She left the apartment but returned to get her work clothes around 5 p.m. and he tried to stop her.”The victim told police she was threatened with a baseball bat pulled by Smartt.
