The McMinnville-Warren County Senior Center is having a special Christmas Lunch fundraiser this Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunches will be $5 per plate and will include ham, creamed potatoes, mac and cheese, congealed salad, homemade rolls, dessert and a drink.
In addition to the lunch, the center will be auctioning off two beautiful quilts, according to Senior Center visitor Desi Barkes, one of which was quilted by Maggie Wanamaker, and a friendship quilt. Phillip Prater will be doing the auction.
“We’re going to auction them off Thursday after we get done with the meal,” said Senior Center director Cheryl Mingle. “The board of directors is actually cooking the meal for us. Our goal is to raise $2,000.”
Mingle says other auction items are being donated, so there will be a good selection.
Carry-outs will be available, or if there are enough meals at one location they will deliver.
“Or they can eat with us,” Mingle said. “So come out and join us for a great meal, and this is not just for seniors, anyone can come, and it’s all for a good cause.”
