The Warren County School System has been recognized nationally with the highest level of school system accreditation. The distinction was announced Monday by Director of Schools Bobby Cox after a rigorous accreditation process conducted last school year.“It demonstrates to our community our commitment to excellence, our openness to external review and feedback, and our desire to be the best we can on behalf of the students we serve,” said Cox.The national recognition is called AdvancED School System Accreditation and it’s given by the AdvancED Accreditation Commission, a national organization that’s the parent company of regional organizations such as SACS, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.Accreditation is awarded for a five-year term with regular monitoring conducted during the period.A team of evaluators came to Warren County in February to visit schools, monitor classrooms, and talk to parents. The team consisted of representatives from Mississippi, Illinois, and several from Tennessee, according to Autumn Turner, Warren County’s director of teaching and learning for preK-6. Turner said work began in June 2012 and the school system submitted its paperwork in January.“We had to look very specifically at everything we do,” said Turner.
