The Warren County Board of Education has endorsed the Try Here, Buy Here initiative, saying it is important to keep Warren County dollars at home for the sake of students.“We have a vested interest in this,” said School Board chairman Bill Zechman in presenting the resolution endorsing the program. The resolution passed unanimously meaning the School Board endorses the program which urges Warren countians to shop with local businesses, not only during the holiday season but year round.Director of Schools Bobby Cox said spending money out of town does not benefit Warren County or its school system.“When a person goes to Murfreesboro or Nashville, those places get the sale tax collection,” Cox said. “That does not benefit us here.”Zechman continued that train of thought. He said by shopping in Warren County, local residents are helping their own school children when it comes to funding education.“Sales tax dollars stay where they are collected so if we want to support our school system that starts with shopping here,” Zechman said.
