School system architect merges with firm

Warren County School System architects Cockrill Design & Planning, the design team which is responsible for the just-completed Dibrell Elementary School expansion project and is currently overseeing construction of the new Morrison Elementary School, has announced a merger with another major regional architectural firm.Knoxville-based Cockrill Design & Planning and Community Tectonics announced yesterday the merger of their firms to form Red Chair Architects.On Thursday, Director of Schools Dr. Jerry Hale says the system has been made aware of the merger, and doesn’t see any problem with it.“We got an e-mail about that today, but it won’t affect us as far as our projects,” said Hale. “In fact, Community Tectonics was one of the firms who applied along with Cockrill Design & Planning for school architect back when all this started.”The new firm begins as one of the largest and most comprehensive design practices in the region. Both firms have been recognized for excellence in design and planning during their combined 90 years of practice in Middle and East Tennessee.“Our merger has made us deeper and stronger in the talent and service we offer going forward.
