With the start of the new school year, the big yellow buses are on the streets and highways. That means kids will be crossing roadways to board their rides while others will be standing at pavement’s edge. The Warren County School System is teaming with McMinnville Public Radio 91.3 WCPI in a vigorous campaign to remind motorists to be watchful for buses and their pint-sized passengers. Other safety campaign partners are McMinnville Police Department, Warren County Sheriff’s Department and the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security.“This public radio station is here to serve the community, and there is no service more important than protecting our children from motor vehicle accidents,” said Dr. Norman Rone, president of the non-profit Warren County Education Foundation, owner and operator of WCPI 91.3. “We will run these one-minute safety reminders in heavy concentration during the first few weeks of school and then on a lighter schedule throughout the rest of the year.”
