School board races set

All three first-term incumbents are asking for their jobs back in what is a competitive field for the three School Board spots up for election this year.Nine candidates have tossed their hats into the political ring as of the qualifying deadline Thursday.In the 1st District, first-term incumbent Jeff Lee is being challenged by James B. Bennett and Wallace Stevens. Their race has been raging for several weeks now with all three men actively campaigning and posting signs.In the 3rd District, where first-term incumbent Michael Adamson is asking for re-election, he will face a head-to-head contest with Helen G. Martin.The 5th District will see the biggest field as first-term incumbent Linda Blair is facing opposition from Harold D. Hyatt, Ellen Ware Brazle, and James T. Jacobs. The School Board positions are elected to staggered, four-year terms.
