A piece of history is gone with the removal of a shade tree in downtown McMinnville Friday morning. After keeping a watchful eye on the tree’s condition for more than a year, officials made the decision to remove it for safety reasons. “It became more and more apparent in the last year and a half that it was becoming unsafe,” said city landscape manager Hank Patton.
