Rock Island in ornament project

Rock Island State Park is participating in the 2014 State Park Ornament Project during the fourth annual “Tennessee’s Home for the Holidays” open house event taking place Dec. 5-17 at the Tennessee Governor’s Mansion.Hand-painted ornaments representing each of Tennessee’s 54 state parks will be among the decorations, as well as displays of native wildlife and Tennessee landscape scenes. In Conservation Hall, the trees will be decorated by Tennessee State Parks Junior Rangers to showcase the many ways to enjoy the outdoors.Rock Island State Park’s ornament was made by artist and local resident Denise Herbert. “Denise has been a longtime supporter of Rock Island State Park and she created an outstanding representation for our park,” said park manager Damon Graham.
