The Fourth of July started with a bang for Riley Harris.

He crossed the finish line first Monday morning to win the annual Stars and Stripes Fun Run in downtown McMinnville with a time of 17:54.

It marked the beginning of a festive day as the Yankee Doodle Children's Parade ushered in plenty of red, white and blue.

2-3 Grade -- Iva Newman

4-5 Grade -- Kaydence Walling

Group -- Maverick and Skylee McCormack.

The baby show was a treat inside the air-conditioned comfort of Park Theater.

It was announced the Stars and Stripes Fun Run had 225 to register, a high number compared to recent years.
