WCTE Upper Cumberland PBS invites families to come out to Gilley Pool in McMinnville for a Ready To Learn back-to-school Pool Party with PBS Kids’ Cat in the Hat this Friday, July 17.
This event will run from 2 to 6 p.m. Children 12 and under who donate a gently used children’s book at the entrance will be admitted free. These books will be distributed to Head Start centers in Warren County. Regular admission to Gilley Pool is $4.
During this family friendly event, children can meet the popular PBS Kids’ character Cat in the Hat. WCTE will distribute educational PBS Kids mobile apps to families for download on their mobile devices. Free books provided by the Children’s Reading Foundation of the Upper Cumberland will be distributed to attendees, encouraging families to read 20 minutes each day. There will be drawings for other special PBS Kids prizes.
WCTE is holding this event in partnership with McMinnville Parks & Recreation, LBJ&C Head Start, Kohls, and the Children’s Reading Foundation of the Upper Cumberland. For more information, visit wcte.org/rtl.
