McMinnville officials have approved 5K and 10K races to serve as a fundraiser for Chaz Allen. The Chase for Chaz will be held May 31 from 7-9 a.m.Demetria Hale is organizing the event and asked the Board of Mayor and Aldermen for permission to use Court Square.“Chaz plans to use his hand crank bike and participate in the race with everyone,” said Hale. “We hope this turns into an annual event.”Allen was injured when he stepped on an IED while on dismounted patrol in Afghanistan on Jan. 22, 2011.
