Mark your calendar for Sunday, Sept. 22, when the Upper Cumberland Affiliate of Susan G. Komen will hold the Upper Cumberland Race for the Cure. The event will be held at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville and marks the fifth anniversary of this signature fundraiser, which supports the fight against breast cancer. Race village will open at 11 a.m., a one-mile fun run and walk will be held at 1 p.m., and the main event – a chip-timed 5K – will take place at 2 p.m.Warren County resident and Komen Upper Cumberland board member Ashley Gillentine Wright has served on the race committee for the past four years and has taken the reins this year as chair of the event, alongside her co-chair Nancy Judd.
