Animal rights activists hit the picket line to demand the job of the dog catcher and, for a day, got their wish as animal control officer David Hennessee resigned his position.However, his resignation was short-lived as Hennessee opted to rescind his resignation and have the county’s Health and Welfare Committee decide his fate. The board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Warren County Administrative Offices to decide whether Hennessee stays or goes.In the meantime, activists picketed Friday in front of the county building on Locust Street, hoisting signs and passing out petitions calling for wholesale changes in how the county handles its animal control center.“If it was one of us, we would be in jail,” said a disgruntled Helen Johnson. “They’ve known about this abuse for years and done nothing.
