Well-respected family physician Dr. James E. Phillips passed away at his home in Franklin late Friday evening at the age of 85.Phillips practiced medicine in McMinnville for well over two decades, first hanging out a shingle here in 1955. It was his first major practice after receiving his medical training from University of Tennessee Medical School in Memphis. He got his undergraduate degree from Samford University in Birmingham.Prior to his time in college and medical school, Phillips had delayed his higher education opting to serve his country.
