Be prepared for some red, white, and blue, as well as many other colors, Thursday night when Dr Pepper lights up the sky with its annual fireworks show at McMinnville Civic Center.McMinnville Police Chief Bryan Denton would like to remind motorists the department will be directing traffic around the Civic Center again this year.“Traffic re-routing has been used for several years to make sure an emergency lane is available in case someone needs medical attention,” Denton said.Vehicles will be directed counter-clockwise on the streets directly adjacent to the Civic Center beginning at 7 p.m. The traffic pattern will continue until traffic has left the area following the 9 p.m. show.Parking is available in the parking lots around the Civic Center and along some side streets once the show begins, provided there’s room for emergency vehicles.A large crowd is always expected and motorists are urged to drive slowly and use caution due to the numerous pedestrians. Caution is also urged on back streets approaching the area since many people walk from nearby streets. As always, private fireworks are prohibited at the show site and violators may be cited by McMinnville Police Department.
