Perkins charged with vandalism

An 11-month, 29-day sentence has been handed to man who ignored a gun being pointed at him, opting to run from police rather than go to jail.The fugitive, Joseph J. Perkins, 32, was issued the 11-month, 29-day sentence by General Sessions Judge Bill Locke on charges of resisting arrest and vandalism. His sentence will be served concurrently, or at the same time, as time he faces in the federal penitentiary on other charges.Perkins was wanted on those federal charges when the car in which he was riding was pulled over by McMinnville patrolman Ben Cantrell. The officer discovered Perkins was wanted for carrying a weapon despite being a convicted felon and was also wanted on local charges.The officer was able to get the suspect out of the car and place him under arrest.
