Warren County school resource officer Bobby Pennington was recently presented the Floyd Ledbetter National School Resource Officer of the Year Award for 2011 by the National Association of School Resource Officers.The group is a 16,000-member organization which has been providing resources and training for school resource officers across the nation since 1991.Pennington received the honor at the national conference in Orlando, Fla. He has been a member of the organization for three years, and attended the NASRO conference last year where he received advanced training.Pennington, who has been an SRO for 11 years, received a letter in May advising him he had won the award.“Mo Canady, the executive director of NASRO, let me know that I’d been selected as this year’s resource officer of the year,” Pennington said. “I got to go to Orlando for the national convention June 26 through July 1.
