After a decade as director of the city’s Parks and Recreation Department, Scott McCord was terminated Friday.
City administrator Nolan Ming, who has the authority to hire and fire department directors, released the following statement:
“Scott McCord is no longer employed by the city of McMinnville,” said Ming. “Justin Scott, current assistant director of Parks and Recreation, will step in as the interim director until the position is permanently filled. We wish Mr. McCord nothing but the best.”
McCord was hired by the city in April 2012, so the separation comes four months shy of 10 years.
In 2012, McCord said his goals were to provide a well-run recreational facility for McMinnville and Warren County, to increase the available programs, and to offer a wide range of activities to residents from kids to the elderly.
“I think I made an impact and will forever be proud of everything the department accomplished. I had a great team,” said McCord.
He declined to comment about Ming’s decision to terminate him, adding “I have no comment at this time.”
It is unknown when the search will be launched to fill the vacancy.
