Parents steal to pay boy's medical bills

A local couple who said they were stealing to pay their child’s medical bills has been arrested on felony theft charges.The couple, Anthony Wayne Vause, 34, and Tish A. Vause, 32, are both charged with theft over $1,000 and were taken into custody at their temporary residence at Scottish Inns last week. They had formerly been Westwood residents.Their arrests came after Mrs. Vause pawned a saw at Kevin’s Quick Cash Pawn.“She stated she knew the saw was stolen and she pawned it to get money for their son’s medical bills,” said Warren County sheriff’s investigator Travis Thaxton.The saw itself was stolen from McMinnville Lawn and Garden owned by Scotty Keel.“Mr. Vause had been working for Mr. Keel for about four months,” Thaxton said. “He admitted taking the saw to pay for doctor bills for his child.”He also admitted after he stole the saw from his employer, he had his wife pawn it.
