McMinnville Police Department is notifying motorists of parking restrictions and street closures on Main Street during two Christmas events next Saturday, Dec. 5.Police will be restricting parking from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. during the McMinnville 2015 Christmas Parade. The parade is set to begin at 2:30 p.m. The street will be cleared of parked vehicles beginning at 12:30 p.m. McMinnville Police Major Mike Lane says the department does not allow vehicles on the street for the enjoyment of onlookers and the safety of everyone.“We do this for safety purposes,” said Lane. “It also allows people to see the parade as it passes without vehicles obstructing their view.”Before the department started restricting parking, vehicles would line the street on both sides and people would have to get in between the parked vehicles or into the street in order to watch the parade pass.No parking will be allowed on Main Street, from Chancery Street to just past McMinnville Fire Department.
