ERIE, Pa. (AP) — The mother of a 14-month-old baby is charged with homicide after the girl's emaciated body was found stuffed into a suitcase left stacked with garbage on a northwestern Pennsylvania street.

Erie police say 20-year-old Tania Coleman admitted the child was hers as officers canvassed the neighborhood following Tuesday's gruesome discovery.

Authorities believe "nutritional neglect" led to the baby's death. Her body was found outside a home by firefighters called to a kitchen fire.

Neighbors say the suitcase had been left with trash up the street and washed down to where it was found by heavy rains Monday night.

Coleman was arraigned Wednesday night and held without bail. Police say she is pregnant and has two other children. It was not immediately clear if she had an attorney.
