Tennessee is joining several states across the Southeast that began ramping up targeting of speeders this week. The joint law enforcement initiative dubbed “Operation Southern Slow Down” will be taking place in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina as well as here. Statistics show speeding dramatically increases the likelihood of involvement in a car crash resulting in serious injuries or even death. “All we ask is for voluntary compliance to ensure everyone can make it home safely,” said Buddy Lewis, Director of the Tennessee Office of Highway Safety.
