McMinnville officials have arranged a special called meeting to discuss Park Theatre renovation bids. The meeting will be held this Monday, Sept. 16, at 6:30 p.m.
The joint Finance Committee and Building and Grounds Committee meeting will include Aldermen Ken Smith, Mike Neal, Ben Newman, and Jimmy Bonner.
“We have a lot of work to do in September so we can kick the project off on Oct. 1,” said Smith, Finance Committee chairman. “We have got to get going.”
Under consideration will be bids submitted in July. The base bids are from Impulse Electrical Systems ($1.77 million), W&O Construction ($1.68 million), and Waymon Hale Construction ($1.89 million).
Each company was allowed to bid on alternatives, areas of construction that were not included in the base bid. Those were renovation of basement, rear addition, intermediate floor renovation, balcony-level renovation, plastic toilet partitions, ceramic tile over terrazzo, repair terrazzo, and replacing the roof.
Impulse Electric Systems alternate bids totaled $657,025, W&O Construction alternate bids totaled $449,000, and Waymon Hale Construction alternate bids totaled $664,108.
By the numbers, complete renovation from roof to basement, including construction of an addition to the rear of the building, will cost between $2.1 and $2.5 million.
Officials must decide which company’s bid is the lowest and best, as well as which of the alternate options will be included in the renovation. Any decision made during the meeting will be sent to the full board for its consideration Sept. 24.
The joint meeting will be held on the third floor of city hall.
