Officials to discuss new police department plans

McMinnville officials will be meeting Tuesday night to discuss architectural drawings for a new police department, to decide what to do with a pile of bricks that could be used during its construction, and consider a request to remove the sign hanging next to Park Theatre.Building and Grounds Committee members Ben Newman, chairman, Ken Smith and Jimmy Bonner will be meeting at 6 p.m.AEI Architects Engineer Planners was asked by Mayor Jimmy Haley to generate architectural drawings for the construction of a new police department and fire hall behind the Blue Building once demolition of the gymnasium and auditorium was complete. Officials could get their first look at those drawings.A large pile of bricks is what remains of the gymnasium and auditorium. Officials asked that the brick be left by the contractor with consideration to reusing them if a police department and/ or fire hall is built behind the Blue Building.Officials are meeting to discuss what to do with the bricks.
