With Project Graduation ready to take root next month at McMinnville Civic Center, one of its biggest fundraisers is set for April 18-19.
That’s when the annual Project Graduation Nursery Sale will take place in the parking lot of Bobby Ray Elementary. Times are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
Project Graduation chairperson Paula Wanamaker is hopeful the nursery sale remains popular this year even though it’s being held later than usual.
“We always have it the weekend of Easter,” said Wanamaker. “With Easter falling so late this year, we hope people still come out and support the sale. It’s one of our biggest fundraisers of the year.”
Nursery stock is donated from area nurseries and prices are said to be among the best around. There is always a wide range of inventory, including flowers, shrubs and trees.
“The local nurseries have always been very generous and we thank them for their support,” said Wanamaker.
Money from the nursery sale is used to benefit Project Graduation, an all-night party held graduation night. This year, WCHS graduation is scheduled for Friday, May 23.
Money from the nursery sale and other fundraisers held during the year is used to buy Project Graduation prizes such as TVs, laptops and college dorm size refrigerators.
Wanamaker said any local nursery which would like to donate can call her at 607-6195.
