A tradition that has spanned over three decades will continue again this year as Morrison Ruritan accepts nominations for its annual Citizen of the Year Award.Club president Mike Holland says Saturday, March 1 is the deadline for nominations for the 2014 Citizen of the Year. The 2013 Citizen of the Year recipient was Sharon Elam. The following guidelines are the basis for selecting the honoree:• Nominations are to be made by the general public• Persons nominated must live in the Morrison area or have some connection, past or present, with the Morrison community• Nominees will be judged on church work, community activities or public service, or a combination of the three.A panel of judges will review the nomination letters and select a recipient. While the primary emphasis will be on the activities of the nominee during the past 12 months, consideration will also be given to contributions made over the years.Holland, who is also chairman of the Citizenship Committee, urges those sending in nominations to take a moment to tell the selection committee why they feel their nominee should be considered.
