No replacement will be hired after the resignation of one Warren County Judicial Commissioner.
The full Warren County Commission unanimously accepted Dawn Cantrell’s letter of resignation as a judicial commissioner on Monday night.
According to Commissioner Ken Martin, they have eight judicial commissioners and that’s enough for now.
“We have three full-time people working Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday on days second and third shifts,” said Martin. “Then, on Saturday and Sunday, we have two who are working 36 hours on Saturday and Sunday. They have been for a long time. We’ve got one working 12 hours Saturday and Sunday.”
While one individual is on call as a fill-in for when the other judicial commissioners take time off, another works at the Warren County High School and signs warrants when needed by the school’s SRO officers.
Cantrell resigned after the county instituted shifts and assign judicial commissioners to them in an effort to reduce confusion on who works when. Having a full-time job, Cantrell could not take a shift.
Martin expressed regret for the loss of Cantrell, however, added the change has been a good one so far and will help in future hiring processes because now the individuals will know specifically when they will be working.
