McMinnville Mayor Jimmy Haley’s power to appoint was not challenged Tuesday night when he made a motion to reappoint Vice Mayor Ben Newman to the McMinnville Electric System board. This will be Newman’s second year on the MES power board, which oversees the activities at the utility.“He served one year. One year really doesn’t give you enough time to understand the workings of McMinnville Electric and what goes on,” said Haley in making his recommendation to reappoint.
