Some Warren County Jail inmates may get a little more freedom than others once the sheriff’s department acquires a new monitoring system for inmates not required to be behind bars.GPS/ radio frequency tracking devices will be used as a house arrest type system to keep track of inmates with severe health issues. The system requires ankle bracelets to be worn by inmates and uses cellphones to monitor the whereabouts of the person wearing the device. The system is viewed as a way to gain financial savings as it would prevent the county from incurring the medical bills of inmates because they would not be in county custody.Sheriff Jackie Matheny said, “This will hold people more accountable. This system will not be for everybody.
