Motorcycle rider, 26, killed Tuesday
Motorcycle crash

A 26-year-old Warren County resident lost his life Tuesday night in a motorcycle crash.

Damian Martin of the Smartt Station area was killed on his way home when he failed to negotiate a curve on his 2020 Yamaha Crotch Rocket, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

According to the Highway Patrol report, Martin had turned off Manchester Highway onto Smartt Station Road and was preparing to turn onto Hennessee Avenue when the single-vehicle accident took place. His motorcycle traveled off the left side of the road and struck a utility pole in the front yard of a residence.

A passing motorist spotted the motorcycle and Mr. Martin in the front yard. Because there were no eyewitnesses, an exact time of the crash is not known. It is believed the wreck occurred between 11:30 p.m. and midnight on Tuesday.

It was noted by the Highway Patrol that Mr. Martin’s helmet flew off his head during the crash, which could have helped to mitigate his injuries. Mr. Martin lives nearby so it is believed he was heading home at the time of the accident.
