The Morrison Ruritan Citizen of the Year banquet will be held April 7 at 6 p.m. at the Morrison Ruritan Building. This year’s Citizen of the Year is Oscar “Lee” Baker Jr.
Baker, a resident of Morrison, is the son of Deborah and the late Oscar Baker. He wed Lajuana Jones on Oct. 3, 1992. The couple has three children – Lakaryl, Nate and Elizabeth.
An active member of Morrison Fire Department and an employee within the city of Morrison, Baker takes pride in his family and home.
“He’s a wonderful father,” said Donald Miller, a longtime friend of Baker’s. “Lee takes pride in his home. He enjoys doing yard work and tending his garden.”
Baker also takes pride in his hometown and is active in the city of Morrison. Mayor Sue Anderson says he is always willing to lend a hand.
“Lee is very active at Morrison Ball Park,” Anderson said. “He helps with Fourth of July activities. He is always willing to pitch in and help others. The city of Morrison is fortunate to have such a dedicated, dependable and hard-working person such as Lee.”
Reservations for the banquet can be made by calling Mike Holland at 939-2540. Cost of the meal is $6. Reservations need to be made by April 1.
