Local businesses have joined together to mount a successful Try Here Buy Here campaign. In keeping with that philosophy, the Southern Standard will be publishing a special section Friday, March 29 to recognize our local mom and pop businesses.That day is officially Mom and Pop Business Owners Day and it also coincides with Easter weekend. With those two days falling close together, the Standard wants to encourage local residents to do any special Easter shopping right here at home.The revenue will benefit local merchants and the tax dollars will help local governments and schools.“We never intended Try Here Buy Here to be just a Christmas promotion,” said Standard publisher Patricia Zechman.
