Major Freddie W. Bivens was honored at a retirement ceremony June 27 in Hurlburt Field, Fla. The highly decorated soldier is the director, Pacific Theater Course, at Hurlburt Field. He is responsible for education and training of AFSOC Airmen deploying to the Pacific Theater. Prior to his assignment to Hurlburt, he completed a master’s degree program in regional security studies for Far East Asia. Major Bivens enlisted in the Air Force in 1990 and worked as a Russian linguist, and served as Presidential translator in Washington.
He was deployed twice in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom.
Major Bivens is a 1987 graduate of Warren County High School, and the son of Fred and Gloria Bivens. He is married to the former Wendy Dawn Hodges and has two children.
