McMinnville Electric System wants local businesses to be made aware of a scam that’s using the MES name in an effort to get money.According to MES, several local businesses have been contacted by phone by a person claiming to be an MES representative. The bogus representative tells the business owner it’s important for them to call an 800 phone number to avoid an overdue bill or to avoid disconnection.MES says this is a ploy and local businesses should not call the 800 number.“First, McMinnville Electric System does not have a toll free or 800 number,” said MES marketing manager Debbie Sain. “Second, always check with us if you are suspicious.
