McMinnville now has a new fire chief. Jeff Monroe, from Five Points, Ala., has officially been selected from a field of 70 candidates to fill the position left open by the departure of longtime fire chief Kevin Lawrence late last year.Monroe has a bachelor’s in public safety administration from Athens State College in Athens, Ala., and a master’s in public and private management from Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, Ala. He is a licensed paramedic, a certified fire instructor, fire officer IV and fire inspector.
