Martin's Chapel offers safe haven

Approximately 150 years after it was established, Martin’s Chapel is reaching into the past and bringing back the original intent of its beginnings — to be a safe haven for all who enter.The small, concrete block structure with shingled roof is not the first church built in the area of the current Martin’s Chapel at 1044 Starlight Road. Originally, a log cabin stood at that spot in the early 1960s and was built by individuals searching for freedom, acceptance, strength, love and friendship.“They needed a place to be accepted,” said ministry organizer Carol Richardson. “A place of freedom, a safe haven, that would help lift them up from the hardships and struggles they faced.
