A man remains in critical condition after he was stabbed during a fight with his girlfriend’s estranged husband Saturday in a case police believe was self-defense.The victim, Tim Puller, remains under care in the ICU at River Park Hospital suffering two stab wounds to the midsection which caused substantial internal injuries. The man who stabbed him, David Flannigan, was treated for multiple facial injuries suffered during the fight, along with a cut wound he accidentally inflicted on himself during the stabbing.According to preliminary reports, the stabbing happened when Puller arrived at a residence on Oriole Drive with Flannigan’s estranged wife.“Flannigan was sitting in his car when they arrived,” said police investigator Todd Rowland, noting the car was in gear when Puller walked over to the car and a fight ensued. “Witnesses say Puller was hitting Flannigan while he was still behind the wheel of his vehicle, pinning him up against the steering wheel.”Flannigan said he pulled his lock blade knife and began stabbing Puller in an attempt to free himself.“He said he was just trying to get him off him,” Rowland said, noting the knife cut Puller twice in the midsection, causing him to drop to the ground.
