A man was shot in the stomach during a reported robbery attempt near Shellsford Bridge on Sunday night.The victim, Derrick Gene Sullivan, 34, remains under treatment for internal injuries at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He was airlifted there from River Park Hospital after he was taken to the local facility by friends who were with him when he was wounded.According to Sheriff Jackie Matheny, witnesses say Sullivan was shot by an unidentified man during a robbery attempt.“The man approached them and a scuffle broke out over the gun,” Matheny said. “The gun went off during the fight and wounded the victim in the midsection.”Witnesses to the scuffle, a man and a woman, maintain they did not know the alleged robber.
