A man accused of sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl and beating her with a TV cable had all sex charges dropped and was sentenced to a year for beating her.The defendant, Juan Alberto Blanco Garcia, entered a best-interest plea to charges of child abuse and child neglect. He was given a six-year probationary sentence on the child neglect charge and was directed to serve 75 percent of an 11-month, 29-day sentence on the child abuse charge. The charges were set to run consecutively, meaning he will be on probation for seven years after his jail time.The sexual charges were dismissed despite testimony by the girl during preliminary hearing in which she told the court Garcia sexually abused her, the girl specifically referring to the spring of 2008.
