CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Police in Clarksville are investigating a likely connection between a home invasion and a man later found dead of a gunshot wound.
Clarksville Police spokesman Jim Knoll says a masked man entered a residence late Sunday and there was an exchange of gunfire. A person who was a guest in the home was wounded and left with the invader. The guest was found nearby and was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by helicopter.
On Monday morning, police answered a call about a man lying in a back yard. Officers say he was dead of a gunshot wound, was masked and had a handgun. Police identified him as 30-year-old Darren James Yeager. Police believe he was the gunman in the home invasion.
The guest was in stable condition.
