Man awoken by knife

A man who had fallen asleep on his couch was awoken Wednesday morning by his roommate stabbing him in the chest with a knife, the knife-wielding suspect now facing an attempted murder charge.The victim, Brian Dedmon, 24, is under treatment at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga for stab wounds to the chest, hand, back and stomach. Meanwhile his roommate, Hoyt Mitchell Hobbs, 57, is being held at Warren County Jail charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault. The top charge carries 15 to 25 years in prison.Deputies responded to the stabbing at their home on Marie Lane near Centertown on Wednesday morning after Hobbs called 911 to say he was considering suicide because he had stabbed his roommate.
