everal months of back-and-forth discussions by McMinnville officials about proposed changes to the city’s longevity policy have ended with an unofficial vote to leave it as is.The discussion split the aldermen vote 3-3, requiring Mayor Jimmy Haley to break the tie. His vote sent the proposed changes packing and left the original policy intact.Left intact was a provision that only full-time, active employees at the time longevity checks are distributed between Nov. 15 and Dec. 15 will be paid. Individuals who make the decision to retire prior to that time will not receive a bonus.“If the policy ain’t broke, I don’t think it needs to be fixed,” said Alderman Jimmy Bonner.
