A local woman with prior burglary convictions here has been arrested alongside one of the state’s most wanted criminals.
The woman, Alyssa Cartwright, 36, was arrested over the weekend in the company of David Powell, 38, of Smyrna, a serial burglar who had worked his way up to the Tennessee Top 10 Most Wanted list.
According to the TBI, the two were wanted for trying to break into a Williamson County home last month. Specifically, the couple attempted to gain entry into a College Grove residence where a mother and three small children were present. The pair reportedly tried to break down both the front and back doors before being scared away.
The couple was arrested in Rutherford County over the weekend during a traffic stop near Sam Ridley Parkway on Interstate 24.
TBI officials said Powell was placed on the Top 10 list given his lengthy criminal history.
“He has a lengthy criminal history and is considered a predatory burglar due to the frequency and nature of his crimes,” said TBI spokesperson Kristin Helm.
In addition to facing charges for the Williamson County incident, Cartwright also faces violation of her probation here. Last June, Cartwright was sentenced to serve 180 days of a three-year sentence for helping to burglarize local homes with another woman.
