While the U.S. economy slowly heals after the financial disasters of 2008, Warren County seems to be locked in the slow side of the recovery. That could be one interpretation of last Saturday’s Food and Raiment Day held at Central Church of Christ.A tradition of local benevolence service for many years, Food and Raiment Day offers needy individuals and families a free hot lunch and total access to the vast array of clean clothing, coats and footwear at Central’s clothing recycling center, supported by donations from local citizens. While the number of beneficiaries has changed little from 2012, the face of those in need has noticeably tilted toward newly arrived residents in Warren County, a Central church spokesperson noted. These new neighbors may actually be internally displaced economic refugees from other parts of the United States, the source suggested.“We registered a family from Ohio that came to McMinnville because they had family here,” Central elder Charles Bogle related.
